Frequently Asked Questions
1. Question:
Where does the tuition for the camp go?
Answer: All proceeds
for the camp go to make the camp possible. Camp fees pays for
activities, materials, and for faculty / staff.
2. Question:
Is the camp the same each summer? My
son/daughter attended last year.
Answer: We change the
scenario case each summer and camp participants are welcome to return. The
experience from last summer would help them in proficiency but the case is
new and equally as challenging.
3. Question: What
kind of clothing is needed (i.e. swim suit, dress pants, casual pants,
etc.)?
Answer: Comfortable
clothing is encouraged, along with sneakers or comfortable shoes. We walk around campus
frequently. Slacks and a polo shirt for boys and nice skirt/pants for girls
is suggested for mock court day (Friday).

Question: If I
need to get in touch with my child, where do I call?
Answer:
Parents may leave a message with the School of Psychology at 321-674-8104,
during the day. For emergencies after 5pm please contact Security at
321-674- 8111. Overnight staff will also have other contact numbers
available upon check in for camp.
5. Question: Is there
a phone available for my child to call us if staying overnight? If so where?
Answer: Payphones and
other phones on campus will be available for use with a calling card,
collect or change. We suggest that a free e-mail account be opened for daily
communication. Yahoo and Hotmail offer such free accounts.
6. Question: Is there
a physician or nurse on site in the event of an illness or medical need?
Answer: No, staff
will have basic first aid kits available and are trained to call EMS if any
injury or illness other than minor cuts or bruises occur. Any incident will
be immediately reported to the camp director, Mr. Jones, and the parents
will be notified. Parents/ guardian will be sent a form that authorizes camp
staff to seek medical attention on behalf of the parent or guardian. All
known medical conditions to include environmental and food allergies will be
available to staff
7. Question: About
how many kids are able to register at one camp?
Answer: There will be
at least 12 with cap of 24 per session. Our target number of campers is
between 12 and 20.
8. Question: Where
will my child be staying? How many people per room?
Answer: Your child
will staying in a dorm room with each person having their own "room" with a
common living area.
9. Question:
Will there be staff members on site at night?
Answer: Yes, a staff
member of the same gender will be staying in the dorms.
10. Question: My child
has special medication to take daily. Is there someone to administer the
medicine or will he/she be on their own to take it?
Answer: Our staff is
not permitted to provide medication.
11. Question: I
must drop my child
off on my way to work and pick them up. What times can I drop off and pick
up?
Answer: Day campers
can be dropped off between 7:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and picked up
between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m.
We strongly
discourage participants bringing jewelry, video game systems or other items
of value that could be lost or stolen at the camp. FIT and the Florida
Forensic Camp are not responsible for lost, stolen, or broken items.
